In-house Training

The following courses can also be presented in-house:

  • South African Environmental Governance (preferably 5-days).
  • Introduction to Integrated Environmental Management: Issues, Principles, Tools and Systems;
  • Introduction to South African Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations;
  • Introduction to the National Water Act and Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM);
  • Practical Understanding of South African Waste Legislation, Integrated Waste Management Planning and Waste Classification;
  • Sustainable Integrated Wastewater Management;
  • Duties, Responsibilities and Liabilities for Pollution Prevention, Remediation and Mine Closure;
  • Prosecuting Pollution: Compliance and Enforcement of Water and Waste-related Legislation in South Africa; and
  • Environmental Risk Assessment and Management.

The three main types of authorisations that would be applicable to most new developments are Environmental Impact Assessments (or EIAs), Water Use Authorisations, and Waste Management Licenses. Applying for these authorisations in an uncoordinated manner can lead to duplication of efforts, increased costs, and serious delays for the developer. Understanding how to dovetail these processes are thus of critical importance.
